ETHICS ISSUES: POLITICAL ETHICS – PART IV (Conclusion, for now…)

OUR FOUNDERING NATION:  A BRIEF HISTORY of POLITICAL ETHICS (OR NOT…)

You'd better believe it...

…and TRUTH will win the day…

The following will be familiar to those who have dealt with Progressive activist groups.  Eliminating the distinction between the individual and the group will hasten the end of our Constitutional rights unless we are very carefulBe careful.

Progressives tend to become zealous about their cause, and zealots tend to appeal to emotions and feelings in place of a valid or compelling argument to dismiss relevant criticism or flaws in their position.  One or more of the following methods are commonly employed www.yourlogicalfallacyis.com:

Presenting circular arguments in which the conclusion is included in the premise (Al Gore letter to the Wall Street Journal, 10/30/13).

Attacking an opponent’s character or personal traits and/or misrepresenting his argument by turning back criticism on the accuser (answering criticism with criticism), claiming

Truth has no agenda

Parts I and II of this brief series described (briefly) how we got into our present situation.  Parts III and IV will cover where we are and suggest where we’re going from here (hint: eliminating the distinction between the individual and the group will hasten the end of our Constitutional rights unless we are very careful).

To review: Progressivism, a broad-based reformist movement born of societal changes that reached its height early in the 20th century by embracing a technical and cultural elite of professionals and highly-paid bureaucrats.  It developed as a response to the vast changes brought by industrialization, the growth of large corporations and fears of political corruption but in the 21st century has come to advocate peace, human rights, civil rights and liberties, social and economic justice, a preserved environment,

ETHICAL ISSUES:  THE LACK OF ETHICS IN GOVERNMENT

may09 021The EPA is by definition an administration, meaning that it is an agent of the Executive branch of government rather than the Administrative.  As such, it is wide open to politicians favoring activist groups for their votes.  It has, since its inception, served to stifle progress both scientific and infrastructural by onerous fees and seemingly unending delays for approval.  We have only semi-facetiously referred to it as Economic Prevention Activists.

In fact, federal power has increased to the point of impeding the moving forward of civilization.  Strong words but true.

EPA is only one of many federal agencies that dictate policy under the protection of the Executive Branch, safely protected from lawmaking government (Congress) in the name of themselves.  Many of these wave the banner of political correctness, usually incorrect in itself.  Many of

ETHICS ISSUES: GLOBAL WARMING CAUSES…HOMICIDE(?)2

GLOBAL WARMING: Science Speaks For Itself

Science does best in the physical sciences (geology, chemistry, biology, etc. which deal entirely with the objective what is), not quite so well in the social sciences which deal with the institutions and functioning of human society and with the interpersonal relationships (what may be) of individuals as members of society.  Relationships necessarily have a subjective and uncertain element which, by definition, does not lend itself well to objective analyses.

Political Science is a social science concerned with the study of the state, nation, government, and politics and policies of government. It deals extensively with the theory and practice of politics and the analysis of political systems, behavior, and culture. Political scientists “see themselves engaged in revealing the relationships underlying political events and conditions, and from these revelations they attempt to construct general principles about the way the world of politics

When someone accuses another of a misconduct or wrongdoing, the accuser often is guilty of that very thing. SJLewis

One of our recent articles made the case that the current “global warming” scare is not true (a lie) and therefore unethical.  When its advocates claim that 97% of climate scientists agree that man is responsible, and that “a tiny minority of shoddy scientists…and extreme ideologues compete with scientific fact,” they are lying (and unethical).  What is true is that “a tiny minority” of self-aggrandizing politicians, consensus scientists and ideologues seek to profit (in both money and power) from the lie.

Now the advocates of global warming are finding even more support for their cause.  To wit:

Center for American Progress board member Christie Hefner claims that warmer climate is driving a dramatic increase in gun violence (MSNBC).  Her concerns are ‘substantiated’ in the

ETHICAL ISSUES: THE ETHICS of GLOBAL WARMING

THE “GLOBAL WARMING” SCARE: Fact or Fiction?

It’s been said that the Earth is round so that man can see only as far as he can handle (that’s about 13 miles, depending on how tall you are).  It doesn’t amount to much when you think about how far far can be, but some people can’t even handle that.  (It’s also been said that when a person accuses another of a misconduct or wrongdoing, the accuser often is guilty of that very thing.)

Walking in a straight line, you would travel about 25,000 miles to return to where you started (that’s the circumference of our planet).  Pretty far, but…

Think about a three-letter word: BIG

BIG – the Universe (nature, bigtime).  46 BILLION light years across.  And growing. A light year is the distance light travels (at 186,000 miles per SECOND) in one year.  And
