THE ETHICS OF ATHEISM I

ETHICS of THE NEW ATHEISTS – NOT

Not that many years ago that champion of atheism Richard Dawkins’s The God Delusion touted the non-existence of God.  At about the same time Sam Harris wrote the End Of Faith on roughly the same topic, and another couple of books carried the same message.  These ‘New Atheists,’ dubbed by others ‘The Four Horsemen’ (of the Apocalypse?) deny the existence of God on the general thought that there is no scientific proof of a Creator.  They claim that Atheism is supported by a “distinguished cadre of other authors who had decisive and well-evidenced cases to present about various problems and failures of religion,” without detailing just what these are, implying some sort of scientific backing of the theory without noting that atheism has no scientific base either.  They also failed to note the FACT that science itself has

ETHICS, TRUTH and GLOBAL WARMING

GLOBAL WARMING?   YES!   The Facts – Part Three

Yes, Earth’s climate is changing, and no, there’s no need for immediate panic.  That about sums up the current state of affairs re: climate change/global warming.   www.extremeethics.org/?p=148

Can anyone actually believe that he can control, or even predict, climate?  We can’t even predict the weather, which has less than 25,000 miles to travel.  Climate is even more difficult because it’s subject to cosmic inputs and earth processes that we don’t understand.  Humanity adapts to Earth’s climate—we don’t control it.  When man claims that he can predict and control climate, he’s kidding himself (folly) and trying to convince others (lying).  Who can claim to be able to control nature by changing mankind’s habits?  Nobody.  Certainly not government bureaucrats.

While Earth may be warming (it is), it’s a

ETHICS, TRUTH, and GLOBAL WARMING

GLOBAL WARMING?   YES!   The Facts – Part Two

Currently Earth is in a scientifically well-documented interglacial period.  This means that we are coming off a glacial period in the recent geologic past (10-12,000 years ago).  There have been, in fact, several glacial periods in the distant past (and interglacial periods necessarily between); there is no evidence that this pattern will not continue in the future.  Earth’s temperatures can be expected to vary in such a dynamic system, and they do. In other words, global warming is a perfectly natural phenomenon and is currently taking place as is its nature.

Only one large volcano can cause massive alterations to global temperature suddenly and can continue over an extended period of time.  Earth has experienced and will continue to experience innumerable volcanic events, all of which have contributed and will contribute to change.
