ETHICS of the MIND

ETHICS ISSUES:  SCIENCE and the MIND

“Mind is the complex of cognitive faculties that enables consciousness, thinking, reasoning, perception, feeling and judgment…”  So says Wikipedia, the Free Encyclopedia.  Notice that the term is mind, not the mind.  Mind is not a physical thing, but instead a metaphysical ‘complex of faculties’ (abilities, capacities), a function of the brain and nervous system (things of substance).  While mind is not material, it still is. Without it we would be not.

Your mind is yours alone, working within your individual self.  It processes information that comes from without as well as what it itself generates, combining real and imagined data, random associations, unique experiences and every other input seen or unseen, heard or unheard, touched or untouched, smelled or unsmelled, tasted or not, to create an increasingly unique (metaphysical) structure. The process doesn’t follow a direct

THE LIE of POLITICAL CORRECTNESS

PC: A Progressive Pathology

9c2353addbb6d43329e3ec28db3294d6_9781627874267PC didn’t just happen…IT’S GOING ACCORDING TO PLAN.

Political Correctness (PC) seemed to be merely an annoyance to those of us comfortable with the truth; we assumed that honesty would eventually prevail over its obvious fiction.  Well, we were wrong.  We failed to appreciate the virulence and potential impact of the Progressive movement—only 15% of the population. The ‘right’ to not be offended has become their trump card.  PC has become the new norm, and we hardly notice it.

THE ORIGINS OF PC

PC may have been an issue in China 2500-years ago.  Confucius observed that the first thing to do to restore a state to health was to call things by their right names rather than use understatement to distort the truth…

…but the foundations of modern Political Correctness are found in Critical Theory, an early-1900s product of Germany’s Institute for Social Research (The Frankfurt School).   Based on Marxist conjecture and underlying thesis that “all history is about which groups have power over which other groups,” its goal was to combine social theory, philosophy, economics and cultural criticism to delegitimize reason in favor of emotion and eliminate the distinction between the individual and the group.  It was a deliberate attempt to promote and spread Communism, nothing less.

ETHICS 102 – The WHY of Ethics

ETHICS IS: The sum of all fundamentals affecting right conduct in every case at all times.

truth

…What it’s all about

Ethicsa universal personal attribute, defines what is right, good and true.  It requires nothing other than yourself to approve or apply.  It’s an integral part of you that applies to the whole of humanity—in fact to Earth and the entire Universe—not just to you or any particular group.

Ethics, founded in truth, a First Principle, is also right and good.  And this is where the whole of humanity comes in because while truth is a given, good and right are not; therefore, the terms require clarification.

But first, to put ethics in perspective, it is first necessary to define its foundation, TRUTH.  But therein lies a problem:  Fundamentals (like truth) cannot be perfectly defined. They must remain at

ETHICS, TRUTH and CLIMATE CHANGE

CLIMATE CHANGE: Necessity is the Mother of Evolution

PART  TWO

It’s natural…

Currently Earth is in a scientifically well-documented interglacial period.  This means that we are coming off a glacial period in the recent geologic past (10-12,000 years ago).  There have been, in fact, several glacial periods in the distant past (and interglacial periods necessarily between); there is no evidence that this pattern will not continue in the future.  Earth’s temperatures can be expected to vary in such a dynamic system, and they do. In other words, global warming is a perfectly natural phenomenon and is currently taking place as is its nature.

Only one large volcano can cause massive alterations to global temperature suddenly and can continue over an extended period of time.  Earth has experienced and will continue to experience innumerable volcanic events, all of which have contributed and will contribute to

ETHICAL ISSUES: PC and RACISM

ETHICS: RACISM AS POLITICAL CORRECTNESS

Racist!  An epithet guaranteed to raise hackles on both sides of the accusation.  Racism has come to mean ‘whites’ demeaning ‘blacks’ or other groups, a definition worthy of political correctness.

It’s common knowledge that 90-percent of ‘blacks’ voted for Barack Obama in 2012.  That bell-curve is skewed ‘way beyond any reasonable statistical degree of probability known to mankind.  Is it possible that blacks voted for Obama simply because he is black?  Of course it is, and that was clearly the case.  This is a classic example of racism, but is

it called such?  Of course not.  That would be politically incorrect.

The infamous OJ Simpson trial is another case in point.  Simpson was clearly guilty of murder—he admitted it—but was found innocent.  The verdict was racially motivated, another case of racism.  But it

TRUTH: Let’s Get Metaphysical…

TRUE and TRUTH

Fundamentals (like Truth) can’t be perfectly defined. They must remain at least in part idea, awareness, perception, theory—because they are principles: the source, not product, of definition.

True and Truth are often confused. “I think Bob is stupid” may be true, but the Truth is that Bob may be in fact very smart.  True is an adjective, Truth is a noun.  Truth is, in fact, an absolute—a first principle—indisputable.  Like the Universe—nature itself—everything requires truth to even be (exist) in the first place.  (This means that truth must have preceded even the Universe.) True is a mere modifier with an opposite—false.  Don’t confuse it with truth.  Truth has no opposite, only an absence of itself.

But the concept (of Truth) has to be articulated to some degree so that we can deal
