Ours is not a government OF THE PEOPLE;  it is instead a government of representatives of the people.  This government is fashioned so as to develop a cadre of virtually permanent ‘representatives’ headquartered in Washington D.C.  It’s not by chance that some of the richest counties in the U.S. comprise the greater D.C. area.  Our government consists of some very wealthy people who are years past listening to their constituencies (THE PEOPLE–US) .  They pass legislation favorable to themselves and exempt themselves from many of the laws that they pass for the public generally.  They are more properly classified as a ruling elite, not a representative government.

A few examples of ‘elite privilege’:

Members of Congress can retire at full pay after only one term.
Members of Congress are exempt from any fear of prosecution for sexual harassment.
Members of Congress have exempted themselves from Healthcare Reform, in all of its aspects. (Imagine that!)
Children (or staffers!) of Congress members do not have to pay back their college student loans.
…And there are more… These can be repealed via Constitutional Amendment.
The President is limited to two terms—why not the legislature?  Granted, it takes time to get legislation through channels, so perhaps two terms (4 years) is insufficient for members of Congress, but two terms (8 years) is plenty for Senators.

To institute Term Limits requires amendment of the Constitution.  Congress won’t do it so the states must.  A 2/3 majority of the states are needed to ask for a constitutional convention to discuss a possible amendment (in this case, two…)

The object is to get your state on board.   THIS IS POSSIBLE.   It’s the only practical route and it can be accomplished  exclusively  by the people.  The internet provides nearly instant access to millions of people, many of whom favor term limits.  Why not use it to push for term limits?  All it takes(!) is the commitment of a cadre of citizens willing to inform and record.  With enough residents behind it, most states will listen.  A CONSTITUTIONAL CONVENTION IS A REAL POSSIBILITY!  AMENDMENT(S) TO THE CONSTITUTION IS A RIGHT OF THE GOVERNED!

Ours is a government of the people run by the people.   You are one of them.  If enough of us want something we can get it.  Most of us favor term limits, but we know that Congress will not do the job because it does them out of a job.

A reasonable proposal for amendment would seem to be:

Congressmen limited to three consecutive terms (six years); Senators to two (8 years)

Bothe being free to run again after being off for two terms. (So good ones have a chance to get something done.)

Simple, huh?  All it takes is a lot of work and COMMITMENT.  But it’s worth it…

Anyone interested is encouraged to contact me ( .  We’ll get the ball rolling, and you’ll be surprised how momentum will build.  This is a GOOD CAUSE that will benefit you and your children in a big way.  An Amendment to the constitution is a remarkable achievement AND IS VERY POSSIBLE.  The longest journey begins with the first step…but this needn’t be a long one if we begin it.   Let’s make it!  Get your friends on board, and your friends’ friends (etc.) will do the job!!  The only investment is your time.  AND your commitment.
